Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2009
Pilgrimage progressing smoothly
9822 Yatris perform darshan on Friday

Srinagar, July 11 – According to a Spokesperson of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji is progressing smoothly and 9822 Yatris performed darshan on Friday.

The Spokesperson stated that 3435 pilgrims left from the Baltal Base Camp and 3600 from Nunwan Base Camp this morning on their journey to the Holy Cave Shrine. He added that another batch of 1433 Yatris left from Jammu to the Pahalgam and Baltal Base Camps today.

Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra commencing from July 25, 2009

Srinagar, July 11 – District Development Commissioner Jammu Mr. T. Angchuk today convened meeting of officers to discuss the arrangements made by various department for the smooth conduct of Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra commencing from July 25, 2009.

It was informed in the meeting that the devotees will be lodged at Ved Mandir, Ambhalla base camp for the yatra.

Threadbare discussions were held to provide basic amenities to the devotees during the yatra at the base camp including security, sanitation, uninterrupted electricity, tents arrangement, etc.

The DDC assured the representatives from VHP and other organizations to provide all basic necessities during the yatra so that the devotees may not face any inconvenience. He asked the PHE department to ensure regular water supply at the base camp. He also stressed for hygienic conditions at the venue by deploying sweepers besides other necessary arrangements from the Jammu Municipal Corporation. He also directed tourism authorities for proper advertisement of the yatra related information through print and electronic media.

He asked the representatives of the Samiti to depute volunteers during the yatra at the base camp. He also assured them for providing fool-proof security by the district administration, besides asked the representatives and other social organizations to cooperate with police and state administration for the smooth conduct of yatra.

Among other who attends the meeting including Deputy Director Information Mr. A. K. Khajuria, ARTO Jammu Mr. Kewal Krishan, SP City North Mr. Randeep Kumar, Secretary Red Cross Jammu Mr. Dinesh Gupta, SE PHE, XENs, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, President VHP Mr. Rama Kant, Secretary VHP, City President VHP, General Secretary Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jammu and other senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
