Golf Championship in Kashmir
Chief Minister for showcasing State’s conducive situation for Global Tourism and Sports

Srinagar, August 10 - Maintaining that time was ripe enough to showcase state’s prevalent conducive situation for global tourism and sports, the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah Monday asked the Regional Directors of Union Tourism Department to work for changing the mindset of foreign tourists and clear their all apprehensions about visiting Jammu and Kashmir. “In order to restore the glory of tourism and encourage foreign tourists to visit the state, you have a pivotal role to play”, he told the Regional Directors.

The Chief Minister was speaking to them after Tee-Off of the 2nd one day Chief Minister’s Golf Championship at Royal Spring Golf Course by him here.

As many as, 21 Regional Directors from Dubai, China, France, USA, South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, UK, Germany and Holland are here on a familiar tour of the valley to get first hand appraisal of the tourism scenario and potential for foreign visitors trips and tours.

Mr. Abdullah urged the Regional Directors to effectively and properly disseminate the good news about the situation prevailing in the state and help kick start tourist inflow from outside the country to the state in a big way round the year. “Our every season offers lots of attraction to the tourists of wide ranging interests and ours is the choicest tourist resort for nature lovers”, he said and added that the state is second to none in adventure tourism like skiing, mountaineering, trekking, river rafting etc.

Mr. Omar said that the delegation from Jammu and Kashmir headed by Tourism Minister and Minister of State for Tourism would be send to various countries to showcase Jammu and Kashmir and help remove the doubts among the foreign tourist about visiting this part of the world, described by writers, authors and scholars, ‘the paradise on earth’ .

Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. Farooq Shah said that more than 100 golfers are participating in the 2nd Chief Minister’s Golf Tournament organized by the Tourism Department to promote the Golf and the Tourism in the valley. The players have been organized in two teams namely Chinar and Pine, he said.
