Navratra Festival arrangements
during week of celebrations in Jammu & Katra

Jammu, August 24 - For preparations being made for the ensuing Navratra Festival, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, convened a meeting of government officers.

While discussing the arrangements made by various government departments including Tourism Department and Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for the approaching sacred occasion of Navratras, the Divisional Commissioner was apprised about the activities to be performed during the Festival including other preparedness made for the smooth conduct of Navratra Festival starting from September 19 at Jammu and Katra.

The departments are expected to put up innovative and impressive events within the available resources to ensure maximum public participation. Being a momentous affair of Jammu division stress is likely to be on the customary programmes. Sharing details of the events scheduled to be conducted at Jammu and Katra during Navratra days, Director Tourism said that the main programmes include Shobha Yatra, All India Devotional Song Contest and Cultural Events. Various times slots have been kept to enjoy some programmes during the day and others in the evenings. Some of the new events planned for this year include celebrations at Reasi Fort and Akhnoor apart from other identified places at Jammu.

The Divisional Commissioner expected the departments to work for maintaining cleanliness especially at places where heavy rush of pilgrims is expected from outside the state as well. The decorative face-lifting of Bahu Fort, Bagh-e-Bahu garden and surrounding areas is also expected during the Festival.
