Bahu Fort vicinity to be revamped on modern lines: Minister

Jammu, October 19 - Asserting that Bagh-e-Bahu fort being the centre of tourist attraction in Jammu city ought to be developed on modern lines, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr Raman Bhalla emphasized on creating tourist interest avenues and upgrading the existing infrastructure to entice the visitors and strengthen the Tourism sector.

Speaking during his tour to Bagh-e-bahu area here today, the Minister said that the entire vicinity needs to be revamped particularly in view of heavy rush of pilgrims and other visitors to the famous Fort and temple. He said besides being popular tourist destination Bage bahu holds great reverence from religious point of view also and has to be decorated with state of art facilities.

The Minister inspected the proposed site for prestigious Bagh-e-Bahu- Mubarik Mandi Ropeway project, Community hall at Bazigar Basti, identified site for guest house and Mahakali Temple. He suggested for constructing View points along the River Tawi from Bage Bahu side so that people could admire the beauty and moreover add to the glory of historic site. He asked the Director Tourism to identify proper locations for constructing sitting view points and prepare the project. For the temple, the Minister instructed the concerned officers to repair the tiles, renovate the pond inside the temple and install high mast lights in the premises. Regarding the Bagh-e-Bahu – Mahamaya (another famous temple near Bahu Fort) road widening project, the Minister asked for preparing the project for starting the work at the earliest.

At Sunjawan, the Minister directed for installing high mast lights at matador stand and also at Peer Baba Satwari for the convenience of devotees. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Vice Chairman JDA, G A Qureshi, Commissioner JMC, senior officers of administration accompanied the Minister.
