Navratra Festival - 2010
Mission Dosti: Indo-Pak Wrestling Contest on October 14, 2010

Katra (Jammu) October 12 - As part of ongoing Navratra Festival, Mission Dosti, Rustam-E- Indo- Pak wrestling contest would be held at Vivekanand Sports Stadium Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine on October 14, 2010.

The mega wrestling event is being organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association with the active support of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K Tourism Department, Navratra Festival Committee, Katra Municipal Committee, District Administration and public Katra.

In Mission Dosti , famous wrestlers of International and National repute from Maharashtra, Delhi, Harayana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar. Pradesh , Chandigarh, Railway, B.S.F, J&K Police and J&K State would participate in the contest and exhibit their wrestling talent.

According to the president, Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, a team of ten wrestlers of Pakistan has already given their consent to participate in the Rustam-E-Indo- Pak Dangal on October 14, 2010 visiting via Waga Boarder and expected to reach at Katra on October 13, 2010.

The president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association who is also a member of J&K sports council and Navratra Festival Committee informed that the prominent wrestlers who have confirmed their participation till date include Sumit (Delhi Kesari- 2009), Parveen Raina from Akhra Sat Pal recipient of Gold Medal in Youth Common Wealth Games, Amit Kumar (Gold Medal Asia cadet), Ram Pal Bholu from Akhra Naresh Dehiya, Rehamat Ali and Gani from Mlair Kotla, Satinder, Somveer, Mr. Kamal Jyot, all from Akhara Subash Coach Khanna, Jagroop Bhaga from Akhra Padrath Phalawan Amritsar and Mantoo from Akhara Lala Ram Delhi.

The president disclosed that another team of six wrestlers from Maharashtra has already reached at the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and would participate in the dangal for the first time in J&K. He further said that adequate arrangements for their boarding and lodging have been made.

6th in series, Mission Dosti Rustam-E- Indo- Pak historic Wrestling competition was organized for the first time during 2005, the president added that event is being organized to promote peace and brotherhood in this sub-continent by means of sports.

District Administration Reasi has have made elaborate arrangements of for Rustam-E-Indo-Pak wrestling contest.
