Heli Skiing inaugurated at Gulmarg

Gulmarg, February 01: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today inaugurated Heli Skiing at Gulmarg which is a joint venture of M/s Himalaya Sports and Moten Joseph of New Zealand.
Addressing on the occasion, the Minister said that the youth of our state have a great potential and stressed upon them to channelize their potential in right direction and constructive manner so that our youth bring laurels to the state not only on national but also at international level.

He further said that the young and dynamic Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir is making every effort to promote tourism industry and also according due attention towards other sectors because a large section of our population directly or indirectly attached with tourism and other sectors like Handicrafts etc. He also said there are so many tourist resorts which yet have not been brought on the tourist map of Jammu & Kashmir. However, he said the present government is according a special attention on these beautiful health resorts.

The Minister hoped that launching of Heli Skiing will add more beauty in Gulmarg resort which would attract more and more tourists to this place from all over the world. On this occasion, the Minister also released the calendar of Tourism Department.

Minister of State for Tourism Jammu & Kashmir, while complimenting the efforts of the Director of M/s Himalaya Sports, for launching the Heli Skiing in Gulmarg. He further said that the government is taking steps for promoting winter games in Pahalgam and other tourist resorts also for which infrastructure would be developed.

Director Tourism, Kashmir while highlighting the performance of the department said that the department will cooperate support of private sector for establishing fundamental infrastructure for adventure tourism. He said that the department is ready to provide every technical guidance to the intending tourist and travel operators. He said Gulmarg was the host of first ever national winter games in 1998 and the first ever FIS approved event in India in 2005. He said apart from Skiing the department is committed to develop infrastructure related to and also promote water sports, golfing, motor sports, polo, angling, trekking and mountaineering.
