Tourism-cum-Cultural Festival at Bhadarwah

Bhadarwah (Jammu), May 23-District Development Commissioner, Doda, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan today finalized the arrangements for the forth coming 4-day Bhaderwah tourism-cum-Cultural festival 2011 at a joint meeting of various departments.

The festival being organized by Bhaderwah Development Authority in collaboration with Department of Tourism and other line Departments is scheduled to start from May 27 to continue till May 30.

Chief Executive Officer Bhaderwah Development Authority, Sub Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah, Additional Superintendent of Police Bhaderwah, besides other District and Sectoral Officers were also present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the DDC said that Bhaderwah has vast tourism potential which needs to be fully explored so that the people can take benefit of the growing tourism business in the region and the tourists from India and across the globe could see the unexplored heaven on earth. He said that the motive behind organizing tourism-cum cultural festival is to explore and boost the tourism activities in the district.

It was finalized in the meeting that the celebrations for this 4-day Bhaderwah tourism-cum-Cultural Festival will start on 27th of May 2011 and culminate on 30th of May 2011. He impressed upon all the district officers to work in a coordinated manner for grand success of the event. It was also decided that all the departments will participate in the festival by establishing their stalls exhibiting their achievements and ongoing projects in the entire district.
The DDC asked the departments dealing in employment generation programmes to actively participate in the festival and utilize the opportunity to create awareness among the unemployed educated youth regarding various state and centrally sponsored self employment schemes so that they could establish their own income generating units and become self sufficient.

While revealing the schedule of the festival, the DDC said that the inaugural ceremony will be organized in GHSS (Boys) Bhaderwah on 27th of May 2011 followed by Mushaira in Degree College Bhaderwah and Musical Night programme at GHSS (Boys) Bhaderwah while cultural Jhankies will be takenout in Bhaderwah town in the morning, Sports & Cultural events at Jai tourist resort and Musical Night Programme will be organized at TRC Bhaderwah.

Besides, on 3rd day of the Mela (festival) at Hanga, Sports & Cultural events in Gurdanda, Water Sports competition at Gatha and Musical Night will be organized at Seeri Bazar Bhaderwah while on 4th day i.e concluding day, 30th of May 2011, Cultural and Folk Programme at Khellani, Closing ceremony of festival at GHSS (Boys) Bhaderwah and Musical Night will be held at GHSS (Boys) Doda.

The DDC informed that special cultural and musical night shows by the artists, road shows in shape of Jhankies, special dramas, skits and folk songs will be presented by the School children, artists of Song and Drama Division and Cultural Academy Doda during the festival.

It was also decided that the adequate transport facility will be provided by the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation during the festival so that the people don’t face any inconvenience. Besides, various other necessary arrangements were also discussed in the meeting.
