Mela Kheer Bhawani from June 9

Over 30 thousand devotees expected this year

Srinagar (Kashmir) May 30: Mela Kheer Bhawani at Tumulla is commencing from June 9, 2011 at Tumulla, Srinagar (Kashmir). Arrangements with regard to Mela were finalised at an officers meeting held here today with the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer of R&B, Power, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Director Tourism, Director CAPD, SSP Gnderbal, SSP Traffic, RTO, Staff officers to IGP, Deputy Director Information and PR, General Manager SRTC and representatives of Health and SKIMS.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers of R&B, PHE, Power, Health, SKIMS, Information, and Municipal Committee etc, to ensure that all the facilities at Tulmulla are made available to the devotees coming from various parts of the country. He asked the SSP Traffic to ensure hassle free traffic movement during the festival days to avoid inconvenience to the devotees. He said medical camps by department of Health and SKIMS should be established and asked the Director CAPD to ensure availability of essentials including Sugar during these days to devotees.

Regarding parking of Vehicles, the District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, informed that the buses would be parked in the premises of Physical Education training college Ganderbal and one way traffic will be allowed during these days. He said over 30,000 devotees are expected this year to Tulmulla.

Regarding tent facilities, the District Development Commissioner said that district administration has 4000 tents in readiness, however if needed it would be augmented and Red Cross Society will be approached had in this behalf.

Referring to transport facilities the meeting was informed that SRTC will fly buses from Jammu to Tulmulla & back and also from Jawahar Nagar, Batmaloo, Batwara etc for the facility of the devotees living in various areas of the city. RTO said that private transport will also be made available.
The Director Tourism informed that an amount of Rs 15.50 Cr has been allotted to JKPCC for renovation and up gradation of Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple and the work has been to great extent completed which also include shops and Puja hall and residential accommodation. He said Hazrat Baba Hyder Ziarat, near this area is also being renovated as a part of pilgrimage Tourism.

The Divisional Commissioner asked the Fire and Emergency Services department to deploy fire fighting engines during these days at Tulmulla and directed the local administration to ensure that the shopkeepers dealing with the LPG cylinders to install fire extinguishers in their shops as a preventive measure.

The Divisional Commissioner urged the officers to maintain a close rapport with each other and make all possible facilities available to the devotees.
