Lohri Festival from 11th January
Jammu, January 05: As a part of the efforts of the state government to promote cultural tourism in the state, the Department of Tourism is organizing Lohri Festival from 11th January in collaboration with district administration, tour & travel industry and Raghunath Bazar Association.
This was informed in a meeting chaired by Director Tourism, S. Robin Singh Mehta held with senior officers of various departments, representatives of Raghunath Bazar Association, various business organizations and other NGOs here today. The Festival would be inaugurated on 11th January at 5 P.M at Raghunath Mandir Chowk followed by cultural programmes performed by eminent artists of the state.
He gave necessary instructions to Jammu Municipal Corporation to ensure cleanliness in the city particularly at the venue by deploying additional staff besides. The PHE and PDD authorities were directed to supply uninterrupted power and water supply during the festival days at the venue. The Police/traffic department were asked to ensure foolproof security arrangements and free movement of traffic.
Health Authorities were asked to make available ambulance fully equipped with medicare facilities and fire services department was asked to arrange sufficient number of fire tenders to avoid any mishap. Academy of art, Culture and Languages was asked to arrange cultural troupes alongwith light & sound system to add more colour to the event.
Floriculture Department was asked to decorate the stage both at Raghunath Mandir Chowk and City Chowk for holding cultural programmes.
Presidents of all associations related with tourism trade industry were requested to actively involve their associations for the success of the mega festival by way of illumination of the venue and all the hotels.
The meeting was attended by Director Floriculture, Superintendent of Police North (City), SE PHE (Mech), Deputy Director Information, Deputy Director Tourism, Deputy Director Fire Services, Dy. S.P Traffic, Additional Secretary Cultural Academy, Secretary Jammu Municipal Corporation, President RBA besides representatives of Raghunath Bazar Association.
