6.31 Lakh Pilgrims pay obeisance at Shiv Khori

Reasi, September 08 - In wake of growing religious fame, sanctity of natural Shiv Lingam in the historic Shiv Khori Shrine Cave in Pouni block of the Reasi district, over 6.31 lacs pilgrims from with in and various other states of the country paid obeisance so far registering an unexpected increase this year.

During first eight months of the this calendar year, about 6, 12,575 pilgrims have darshan of the holy Shiv Lingam comparing to 3,61,494 pilgrims during the same period of last calander year thus registering an increase of 2,51,081 pilgrims over the last year.

Presently 2500 to 3000 pilgrims are visiting daily to Shiv Khori Shrine Cave nd during August 2009, 80740 pilgrims have paid their obeisance at the holy shrine.

Shiv Khori Shrine Cave is now emerging as the second largest pilgrimage destination after Shri Mata Vaishni Devi Shrine in the Reasi district.

Number of other places of tourist and religious nature under the Katra Shiv Khori tourist circuit include Aghar Jitto, Nao Mata, Danser Baba, Dera Baba, Siar Baba, Bidda Baba, Chenana Devita, Ziarat Jandi Morh and Simble Choa, Kalka Mata, Mahadev temple and Sula Park of the Reasi district attracting thousands of pilgrims and tourists daily.

The Shiv Khori Shrine Board under the Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Vice Chairman (District Development Commissioner) Reasi is making all out efforts to provide all adequate infrastructural facilities to the visiting pilgrims and number of developmental activities at Ransoo the base camp of Shri Shiv Khori Shrine to provide an alternative route to the Cave have been taken in hand which would after completion provide more facilities to devotees.

Work on 5 multi storied waiting hall near the cave shrine is in progress and tile work on three kms long track is nearing completion.
