Srinagar (Kashmir), June 28: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah presented trophies and cash awards to the participants and the winners of the Mughal Rally – 2011 at SKICC, Srinagar - Kashmir.

The cash prizes amounting to Rs. 10 lakhs and Trophies were presented to the winners in the tournament. In the professional category first award was taken by Gaurav Chiripaul, the second prize went to Harkaran Singh while third prize was bagged by Karan Jung. The fourth prize was received by a local motorist Taufeeq Mughal. In the adventure category Jagmeet Gill won the first prize, the second went to K. Prasad and third was received by Sanjay.

While speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister asked the organizers to explore the possibility of holding motor rally from Srinagar to Gurez to Drass to Kargil to Leh and back to Srinagar. Chief Minister said that Government would provide all support ‘to the organizers for making the motor sport in Jammu and Kashmir as a permanent fixture in the motor sports calendar of the Country.

2nd Mugal Road Car Rally flagg in at Kashmir

Earlier in the day Tourism Minister, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora along with Minister of State for Tourism today accorded a warm welcome by flagg-in to the participants of Second Historic Mughal Car Rally at Royal Spring Golf Course.

Addressing the gathering, Tourism Minister hoped that the Historic Mughal Rally 2011 would be a regular feature of the Jammu and Kashmir State. He said the God has bestowed the State particularly the valley of Kashmir a number of beautiful resorts which are unique and have no parallel in the whole world. He further said that the main aim and objective of such historic rallies is not only enjoy by the car driven adventure loving persons, but these events can help us for exploring such unique beautiful places which have not yet put on the tourism map.

The Minister said that every part of our State especially the valley of Kashmir is full of natural beauty, heritage places, and sacred pilgrimage; tourists have a lot to see on the paradise of earth.

In summer months tourists can witness the true beauty of the nature not only by visiting world famous tourist places, but can also enjoy through participating in Mughal Rally, water sports, playing of Golf, visiting pilgrimages, trekking, Mountaineering and witnessing glaciers while in winter months, the tourists can enjoy ski at the most beautiful snow slopes of the world famous tourist resort Gulmarg and Pahalgam. He hoped that the J&K Bank would continuously sponsor the Mughal Road Rallies and other tourism promotion related activities in the State, which not only grace to the beauty of the valley but can also generate employment avenues. He hoped that in the coming year, there would be increase in the participants Mughal Road Car Rally.

On the occasion, Senior President, J&K Bank, Director Tourism, Chairman Himalayan Motor Sports and a number of Officers were present.
