Ladakh Flash Flood

Crops damaged during Ladakh Flash Flood.

Ladakh, August 08 - In Jammu and Kashmir, as the people of Ladakh were commemorating the lost of life in last years Flash flood on the 6th of August 2011, suddenly on 6th of August 2011 at 9.30 pm the Village Achambur and its adjoining areas of block Tai Suru and Goshan Village and its adjacent areas of Block Drass experienced heavy Rain Fall and Hail Strom, which result into sudden flash floods in these areas.

Due to the flash floods, these villages suffered a great lose in the form of Property (Irrigational Land, Crops and Trees), damage has been caused to Head works of various Irrigational Canals, Roads at various places had been damaged, Water Supply Scheme and the greatest damage was caused to the Marpochoo Mini Hydel Project in Drass due to which the power supply in Drass had been disturbed.

To discuss the future plan of action to restore relief anf rehabilitation works in these areas, a meeting was held in the Council Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Executive Councilor for Agriculture and Revenue LAHDC Kargil Haji Ghulam Amir Kargil in which Executive Councilor Syed Kazim Sabere, Executive Councilor Engineer Punchok Tashi along with all district Officer participated.

During the meeting a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Development was established to assess the damages caused due to these Flash Floods in Drass and Tai Suru and will submit a report of the damages caused to these places.
