ATOAI convention at Srinagar in September '2011

Minister for Tourism and Culture, J&K reviewing arragements for ATOAI convention in Sgrinagar, Kashmir

Srinagar (Kashmir) August 18: To showcase and market adventure tourism potential of the State, the Tourism Department in collaboration with Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) is organizing four-day annual convention at Srinagar, Kashmir (J&K) from September 12, 2011.

The theme of the convention is "India Adventure-creating opportunities", with an objective to harness all available resources and promote adventure tourism by marketing networking and capacity building and also hopes to revive and boost tourism to Jammu and Kashmir.

To make the convention a success, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister of State Tourism, Culture and Home, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani today reviewed the arrangements made by the Government for participants coming from in and outside the country at a high level meeting of officers and representatives of ATOAI.

Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Director Tourism Kashmir, and Managing Director Cable Car Corporation were among others, who participated in the meeting. It is expected that 50 to 70 International buyers from different countries in addition to buyers from different corporate houses within country as well as domestic tour operators are participating in the convention.

The meeting discussed and reviewed arrangements regarding transportation and accommodation facilities to be provided to the visiting guests at Srinagar. The concerned officers assured the Minister for making all necessary arrangements to make the event a great success.
The Minister said that the endeavour of Jammu & Kashmir Government is to explore fully the varied tourism potential of the State for Global marketing, adding that organizing such a grand convention at Srinagar is a step in that direction.

The Minister stressed upon the concerned authorities to ensure all necessary facilities to the participants during the convention days. He also instructed them to a prize visiting buyers about the rich and historical tourism potential of Jammu & Kashmir State vital for captivating more tourists to the visit of the State, which in long run pivotal for economic boost of State's people.
