Participants of All India Devotional Song Competition during Navratra Celebrations  

5th Day of Navratra Festival Celebrations

Katra, Jammu (J&K), October 10, 2013 - In the on going All India Devotional Song Competition (AIDSC) being organized by Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, (SMVD)J&K Tourism Department and District Administration, Reasi in collaboration with various local organizations in the premises of Yog Ashram, Katra, Bharat from Jammu got straight entry into the final after clinching first position on the 5th Day of the Competition. Additional Chief Executive Officer Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner, Reasi presides over the function.

In all, Kabul Bhukhari from Mumbai and Aseem Sharma from Jammu adjudged 2nd Jointly while third position was shared by two contestants namely Mr. Sunil Dutt from Shimla and Ms. Monika Sharma from Jammu.

 

The competition was adjudged by panel of judges including Dr. Surinder Sharma Head of the Department of Music in Center for Excellence Govt. Degree College Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Usha Bhagati Ex.HOD Music, Ms. Parveen Sabherwal Ex.HOD Music.

The previous winner of All India Devotional Song Competition Ms.Sonali Dogra presented her guest item on the occasion. Chairman of All India Devotional Competition cum Navratra Committee, Mr. Rakesh Wazir conducted the proceedings of the programme.

Among others, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Assistant CEO SMVD Shrine Board,Deputy Director Tourism, besides President Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra, were present on the occasion. Earlier, a colourful procession comprising of various shades of rich cultural heritage of the country were taken out from Asia Chowk by the Cultural Association, Katra which finally culminated at Higher Secondary School.

In the “Hassaya Vayang Pratiyogita”, Abhishek was adjudged as best comedian in the most sought after event of the Navratra festival which concluded at Durga Bhawan last evening. A cash prize amounting Rs.25000/- was awarded to him for his extra ordinary performance in the humorous stage show organized as part of festival by the Hassaya Vayang Manch, Katra with active support of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and State Tourism Department.

Atul and Shazi Khan were adjudged 2nd and 3rd winner in the contest respectively. Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest while Director Tourism was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

 

Complementing the organizers of the Hassaya Vayang Manch for the successful conduct of the gala event, the Deputy Commissioner said that he was highly impressed to see the quality, standard of the show.

President of the Manch while giving resume of the event said that the event has gained prominence in the Annual Navratra festival. He said apart from local participation, the talented artists from across the Jammu & Kashmir state participated in the competition.

International Wrestling would be organized at Vivekananda Sports Stadium, Katra on October 11, 2013 by 12 noon.
