Golf Tournament at Royal Spring Golf Course Srinagar - Kashmir

Srinagar, Kashmir (J&K), October 12, 2013 - Minister for Tourism, Mr Ghulam Ahmad Mir today teed-off a Golf Tournament at Royal Spring Golf Course (RSGC) in Srinagar, Kashmir. The tournament was organised by BHS Realty Private Ltd. in collaboration with RSGC and Tourism Department Government of Jammu & Kashmir. Over 100 players of Jammu & Kashmir State are participating in the day long Golf tournament.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shialnder Kumar, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah were among others present on the occasion. Appreciating the organizers, Mir welcomed the participants for the event and invited them to play golf at other picturesque golf courses of the State of J&K.

Giving credit to the people for restoration of peace in the Valley, Mir noted that the prevailing normalcy in the state has provided a big boost to its tourism sector and gave a push to the economic activities. The Tourism Minister said the government is promoting golf in a big way to boost the tourism industry that has been badly hit by 17 years of violence and the Royal Springs Golf Course is becoming golfing paradise.

 

“Golf has very good potential. We hope we will utilize it fully. We hope more tourists come here because golfers are high spending tourists. That is why we want to focus more on it,” said tourism Minister. The Minister said “With more and more tournaments being organised at Royal Springs and other golf Courses not only showcase the J&K States Golf Courses but encourage an increasing number of tourists to Kashmir (J&K), especially golfers from across the world throughout the year’’

He said sports tourism is presently emerging as an important activity in the tourism sector to attract high-end tourists and give fillip to economy and called upon the Tourism related stake holders to coordinate in organising sports, adventure and MICE tourism to attract tourists from across the world.

The Royal Springs Golf Course in the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the country and most golfers relish the prospect of teeing off here.
