3-day Shiv Khori Festival from February 26
Reasi, Jammu (J&K), February 06, 2014 - The historic three-day Shiv Khori Festival (Mela) - at the famous Holy Cave Shrine of Lord Shiva nested in Shivalik Hills, is commencing from February 26, 2014.
This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who convened a meeting of officers to review the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mela here on Thursday.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue (Executive Officer Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board - SSKSB), Tilk Raj Shastri, Additional SP Varinder Salathia, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and officer from various departments participated in the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, said that necessary preparations for providing basic facilities to the visiting pilgrims are going on and instructions were also given to all the concerned government departments of Jammu & Kashmir for making all the arrangement well in advance.
He stressed on making elaborate arrangements to give a grandeur Festive look to the Darshani Deodi of Holy Cave Shrine and other important areas on the track as well as the base camp of the Shrine, Ransoo.
Free food stalls (langers) by various social organizations besides entertainment for the pilgrims by various cultural troops and wrestling competition on (February 28) last day of the Mela at Ransoo would be other highlights during the Festival days.
