Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspended till Weather Improves

Katra (Jammu & Kashmir), September 05, 2014 - Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji from Katra onwards has been suspended since yesterday evening keeping in view the safety of pilgrims. This has been done in the wake of continuing rains entire Jammu & Kashmir state as well as Trikuta Hills and the subsequent closure of the track from Katra to the Bhawan/ Shrine due to landslides at various places.

Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, said here today that as a precautionary measure to avoid any inconvenience to the pilgrims the Yatra has been temporarily suspended since 4.00 p.m. yesterday. He said that the decision about resumption of the Yatra will be taken after the weather improves and, as such, advised the intending pilgrims to re- schedule their plan for undertaking the pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine accordingly.
